August 4, 2025
Our office represented Catlin Gravitt and Darline Gravitt, who were charged in Carter County with felony counts for facilitating a cock fight and possessing fighting roosters. The investigation began after an animal rights group deployed a drone over their property and turned over footage to local law enforcement. The day before the jury trial was scheduled to begin, the Carter County District Attorney dismissed all charges against our clients.

April 24, 2025
Our office represented William Roberts, who was charged with first degree murder in Carter County. Mr. Roberts, who confessed to law enforcement, was facing life imprisonment. Our office negotiated a plea agreement that resulted in Mr. Roberts receiving twelve (12) years on a reduced charge of second-degree murder.

Our office represented Ricky Marshall, who was charged in Carter County with allegedly attempting to kidnap four children. Our office negotiated a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of two charges and a sentence of time served plus probation on reduced versions of the other two charges.

February 4, 2025
Our office represented Dr. Edward Hallowell, one of the world’s foremost ADHD specialists, on a felony indictment in Garvin County. Dr. Hallowell, who resides in Massachusetts, was falsely accused of prescribing medicine without a license. Our office was able to secure a dismissal of all charges.

March 18, 2024
Our office represented Casey Dewitt who was charged with indecent exposure in Johnston County. After a 4-day jury trial, it took the jury less than ten minutes to return a verdict of not guilty in a case where the prosecution was asking for five years in prison as well as a requirement that Mr. Dewitt register as a sex offender.

July 23, 2023
Our office represented Joshua Childers who was charged in Carter County with one count of manslaughter and one count of child endangerment. After securing a dismissal of the manslaughter charge, our office negotiated a plea agreement on the child endangerment charge which resulted in Mr. Childers receiving a deferred sentence with no jail time.

May 6, 2021
Our office represented Leslie Flemming, who was charged in Carter County with malicious injury to property for allegedly defacing code enforcement signs to protest a COVID mask mandate in Ardmore. After a jury trial, Mr. Flemming was found not guilty after deliberations lasting less than thirty minutes.

Our office represented Dakota Martin, who was charged with first degree rape in Johnston County. After a three-day jury trial, it took the jury less than two hours to find Mr. Martin not guilty.

May 10, 2017
Our office represented Jermaine Scallion in a Carter County assault and battery with a deadly weapon charge related to a stabbing. Mr. Scallion, who rejected a plea offer of fifteen years in prison, was assessed no fine or punishment after a three-day jury trial in which the jury found him guilty but assessed punishment as “none.”

Our office represented Steven Adkins who was charged with first degree rape in Carter County. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty in a case where the best offer made by the prosecution was thirty-five years in prison.

October 22, 2014
Our office represented Tarra Bond who was charged with shooting with intent to kill in Carter County. After our investigation established that Ms. Bond was acting in self-defense when she shot an abusive ex-boyfriend who was refusing to leave her home, the case was dismissed prior to the scheduled jury trial.

September 28, 2011
Our office represented Lisa Bloxham-Grant, who was charged in Carter County with owning a dog that caused the death of a person. After the court refused to accept a plea agreement that would have seen Ms. Bloxham-Grant serve six months in jail plus probation, the case was tried to a jury. The jury ultimately decided that a fine of $5,000 with no imprisonment or probation was the appropriate punishment.
